SEN Teaching Assistant – IR Unit

Elevate Supply is proud to be working in partnership with a warm and inclusive secondary school in South Sheffield to recruit a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant for a role based in the school’s Inclusion Resource (IR) unit. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact by supporting students with a range of special educational needs in a dedicated and supportive environment.

This full-time role is ideal for someone with experience in SEN support or a strong desire to develop a career working with students who require additional guidance and structure in their education.

🟢 Pay Rate: £85 – £110 per day, depending on experience and qualifications 📅 Start Date: September 2025 (onboarding to begin from May half-term)

The Role:

As an SEN TA in the IR unit, you’ll work closely with students who may have EHCPs, social, emotional, or mental health (SEMH) needs, autism, or other additional needs. You'll help deliver tailored interventions and classroom support, encouraging engagement, emotional regulation, and steady academic progress in a nurturing setting.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support within the IR unit

  • Assist with daily routines, emotional support, and academic tasks

  • Implement strategies outlined in students’ EHCPs or behaviour plans

  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families

  • Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment

  • Support students during transitions between the IR unit and mainstream classes (where appropriate)

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH (school-based experience desirable)

  • Empathy, patience, and a calm, nurturing approach

  • The ability to manage behaviour effectively and respond to individual needs

  • A proactive and resilient mindset

  • Team player attitude with strong communication skills

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

📍 Location: Based in a partner secondary school in South Sheffield, with good access from areas like Woodseats, Lowedges, Heeley, and Meersbrook.
